Summer Flute Playday
with Sheffield Flute Choir

For flute players aged 18 and over, around Grade 5 standard upwards.
Bring your flutes (plus piccolos, alto and bass flutes and any bigger ones too!) to sunny Sheffield for a day of group playing. We’re opening up our usual Saturday rehearsal and turning it into a full day. We're planning a relaxed day – no pressure, just a chance to get together with other flute players and try out some music. Whether you play regularly or are a bit ‘rusty’, you’re very welcome!

Compose Yourself! Workshop: Composing for Flute
with composer Jenny Jackson and flautist Rachel Shirley

Shirley House, Sheffield, S11 8YL
10am-4pm, £55, age 18+
This one-day workshop will guide you through the process of composing your own short piece for flute, culminating with an informal performance and recording of all completed pieces. There will be group activities and individual writing time (with one-to-one support from Jenny and Rachel) with plenty of opportunities to hear outcomes and make revisions as your piece progresses.
This workshop is ideal for adults with little or no composing experience who want to 'have a go' in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Don't worry: there are lots of tricks to make sure you don't get stuck!
