If you have always wanted to be able to perform the music you adore without the fear of ‘getting it all wrong’ -- except the prospect feels a long way off, let alone actually try—this flute workshop is for you. Come visit Sheffield (it’s been recently voted the happiest city in the UK!). Spend a day with Jessica at the Sharrow Performing Arts Space. Learn techniques to simplify the interpretation process no matter which genre you love to play. Replace interpretation-dread with confidence and delight. Dip your toe in by experimenting with new genres of music on your flute. And above all? Go beyond just the notes to start growing your own unique musical style from the ground up.
Jessica is an international performer, an enthusiastic teacher and an ethnomusicologist (recently featured in Pan magazine with her fascinating research on Argentinian composer Piazzolla) - a woman with a BIG musical vision!
At the end of this one-day workshop you will be able to
-- Deepen your unique musical style based on your own story
-- Interpret music from any genre on your flute with utmost confidence
-- Perform different styles beyond ‘classical’, including tango, Bollywood, folk, Choro, Chinese Folk songs, just to name a few.
Suitable for players that are Grade 3+, and ages 18+.
This workshop is limited to a maximum of 12 participants each day.
