Monthly payments for lessons

I work on a monthly ‘subscription’ payment for lessons. You pay the same at the start of amount every month, regardless of how many weeks there are in each month. This spreads your payments evenly across the year. This is based on me being available to teach for 42 weeks in the year (this takes into account holidays and other days I may need to take off for training etc). The amount you pay, and the number of lessons per year this entitles you to, depends on your normal lesson frequency, as per the table.
Any less frequent, extra or ad-hoc lessons will be charged at £35 per hour.
I use My Music Staff to manage my student records (you can also use this to see your lesson dates, account etc - ask me for a student/ parent log-in). Fees are due by the 7th of each calendar month. Invoices will be automatically generated and sent out by email on the 1st of each month. An automated reminder will be sent shortly after the due date for any unpaid invoices. Payments are due in advance at the start of each month, and are best set up as a regular debit/ credit card payment (you can do this through My Music Staff) or standing order from your bank account.
Cancellations
As with many other regular activities such as a course of swimming lessons, there are no refunds if you cancel a lesson (or if you are not at home for the agreed lesson start time) – as well as actual lesson time, you are paying for me to keep space in my timetable for you, and for the ongoing admin, preparation, training and professional development work outside of your lesson time. I may be able to rearrange a lesson within the same week/ fortnight, but this is at my discretion and dependent on whether I have space in my timetable. If I need to cancel a previously arranged lesson, I will issue you with a lesson credit to be used for a replacement lesson within six months.
If you decide to stop having lessons, one month’s notice will be required, and fees will be charged up to the end of the notice period, whether or not the lessons are taken.
Other payments
Any payments due for exam entries, workshops, books or materials will be due separately from lessons payments and in advance of any exam or event.
Full terms and conditions
Full terms and conditions for lessons can be downloaded here. My fee rates and terms and conditions are based on recommendations from the Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) of which I am a member, and any disputes may be referred to their legal team. By continuing with lessons you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
